St. Louis suburbs see influx of Asian immigrants

Spread the love

Joe Scott writes in today's Creve Couer Patch article about the influx of Asian immigrants in the West St. Louis County suburbs of Clayton, Maryland Heights, and Creve Coeur. The Asian population in all three municipalities stands just above 10%, according to the 2010 Census.

Scott points out that today's immigrants come to the U.S. for the same reasons that immigrants have always been coming here: good job opportunities, better schools, and safety concerns.  Monsanto and MasterCard have nearby offices, and these employers hire many international workers. The Parkway and Clayton school districts are terrific and draw many immigrants to those areas.

The St. Louis Suburbs

The iconic travel destinations in the country, such as The Gateway Arch National Park, Saint Louis Zoo, and the Missouri Botanical Garden, are all in St. Louis. Clayton, Webster Groves, and Chesterfield are also some of the best suburbs in St. Louis. Clayton, which is one of the wealthiest suburbs in St. Louis City, has a median home value of $633,400. According to the National Association of Realtors, the national average home value in the US as of November 2023 is $387,600 for existing homes alone.

Living in a charming suburb in the St. Louis area means being part of a close-knit community, walking down tree-lined streets, accessing recreational areas like country clubs, and staying near the metro area. You get the city life and the affluent suburbs in just one area. The more affluent suburbs like Ladue and Town and Country may also have a tight-knit community binding them. On the other hand, downtown St. Louis is also lined with sidewalks if you want to walk downtown.

It’s no wonder why young professionals and young families are moving into a particular St. Louis suburb, especially in Clayton. The suburb has many coffee shops and parks, people are liberal, and public schools are highly rated. St. Louis has a charming downtown area and the best suburbs where you can thrive and raise your family. Moreover, the architectural styles in St. Louis are French, German, and early American-inspired.
