President Halts Immigration

Spread the love

We have received word along with many other people that President Trump is planning on halting immigration to the United States. So we're going to see a situation in the next few days where presumably an executive order is going to be handed down.

The president is going to halt immigration for anyone coming to the United States.

This is for non-immigrant visas, employment-based immigrant visas, and for family based immigration.

The immediate short term effects of this are unclear. The embassies are all closed right now anyway so this might just be political posturing to his base.

As you know the president is involved in a re-election campaign and nothing gets his base more fired up than railing against immigrants.

So there's a chance that we might see this just being more of a political stunt than an actual policy.

That being said, I'm sure that there will be an executive order issued that the administration will try to halt all immigration to the United States.

I don't think this is going to apply to people who are already here in the United States. I do not think this is going to apply to people who are going through the adjustment of status process.

Where I think this is going to come into play as all the embassy work.

So all of the non-immigrant visas, student visas, work visas, and then all the immigrant visas which would include family based immigration spouses: parents, children, brothers, and sisters.

And then of course the employment side of things as well.

If anyone's been paying attention, they know that the president has been after this for a while and that this has been his goal. We can't be totally surprised.

But right now based on a single tweet and not a lot of information this is the latest that we have.

I would imagine that there will be lawsuits filed.

It's questionable as to whether the president can unilaterally halt all immigration. But of course he's using the coronavirus to do it.

The interesting thing is at the same time he's urging the economy to reopen and getting people back to work.

He's also saying that it's not safe to let immigrants in here even though the coronavirus is already here.

I don't want to get onto a political diatribe other than to say that we are monitoring this that we will continue to give you the latest information.

As of now it appears that President Trump plans to issue an executive order in the next few days that would stop temporarily all immigration to the United States.

So we will stay tuned and we'll keep you posted.

Stay safe and hope you're well. Take care.
