The dream for immigrants is alive and well

Spread the love

Good morning everybody. It's Jim here in San Diego. Getting ready to head back to St. Louis in a little bit. Wanted to shoot this short video to just tell you the dream is alive. The dream is alive. We're seeing lots of great movement out of the Biden administration. No, he's not perfect. No, he's not the savior for all immigrants, but he's really been doing some things to improve the lives of immigrants. The first thing he did was appointed an immigrant, the first immigrant, to be the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Mr. Mayorkas, the former head of USCIS, is doing a lot to try to turn things around. The biggest thing they did this week was to get rid of the public charge rule that Trump had put into place. They've turned it back to the old public charge rule, which was always working before Trump even took office.

The whole rule that Trump and Stephen Miller came up with was fixing a problem that did not exist and was really just an assault on legal immigration. The Department of Homeland Security decided to scrap that rule and to announce that no one had to submit I-944 petition for self-sufficiency anymore. It really is a great day for immigrants and those who love immigrants. It's going to make immigration to the United States and getting green cards in the United States a whole lot easier, especially for poor people. Of course, that's what Donald Trump wanted to do away with is immigration by people who weren't as wealthy as he is.

We're really glad to see a lot of the movement in USCIS, and we're glad to see that dreams are coming true. For my own part, our dream is coming true. I had a dream about a year and a half ago, two years ago, to open this office in San Diego, and here we are. Our office is up and running. We're signing up cases and we're building a practice out here on the west coast. It's a really exciting time. Our team is the best team we've ever had. It's the biggest team we've ever had, and the firm is really rocking and rolling thanks to some great leadership from my colleagues, Amani, Adella, Andrew, Everett, Lara Clark. Everybody on the team is really top-notch. I can't be more pleased with the way that everybody's doing. Yeah, we're busy. Yeah, we're handling a big caseload, but things are going really well.
