Yesterday, the Obama Administration announced a temporary fix for some young people who came to the US at a very young age. Under the new plan, certain young people will be allowed to remain in the US and to have their deportation cases deferred.
I was interviewed by the Post-Dispatch yesterday regarding the plan and my comments were much harsher than the quote that ended up included in the piece. My main point is that this temporary band aid is a poor substitute to the comprehensive immigration reform that this country needs and that candidate Obama made in 2008. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts below.
Interestingly, my wife Amany was also interviewed by the St. Louis Beacon at the same time on the same topic. Amany's thoughts mirrored my own.
