Another big announcement? I simply can't take it. Hi, I'm Jim Hacking, immigration lawyer practicing law throughout the United States out of our offices in St. Louis, San Diego, and Washington DC. We had that big announcement last week about opening up our new office in Washington, DC, but I have some even bigger news and that is that we are changing the name of our firm. Since 2007, we have been known as The Hacking Law Practice, LLC. HLP is the way that we have marketed ourselves. It's the logo that I used to do on our videos, Hackin Law Practice with the shield. That was everything that we've done name wise since 2007 and the reason for that is because I wanted to have our name stand out. I didn't want to just be called another law firm. I wanted to have something a little distinguished and a little bit different, and that's why we settled on Hacking Law Practice, LLC, HLP, LLC.
And a lot of that comes from a law school class that I really enjoyed, law school television show that I really enjoyed called The Practice. It was a great show about a law firm run by a guy named Bobby Donald and they fought for the little guy, and I knew that we were going to be fighting for the little guy. And so that's why we wanted to incorporate The Practice into the name of our firm. But since 2012, all we've done is handle immigration. We've only handled immigration. At first, I thought that we would do all kinds of different cases for immigrants, car crashes for immigrants, wills and estates for immigrants, contract disputes for immigrants. But it became pretty clear to us after a few years in practice that we were going to be an immigration law firm and so this changing of our name is something that's long overdue and Hacking Immigration Law, LLC is now the name of our firm. HIL will be our initials and we're coming out with a new logo.
Hopefully if my son who edits these videos for me can splice in that logo, that would be great and you'll get to see it. Otherwise, expect to see it all over on social media. But The Hacking Law Practice, LLC is no more. Hacking Immigration Law, LLC is the name of our firm. We're really excited about it. We think it will help with clarity of message and let people know exactly what we are. We also are sort of lucky in that Hacking Immigration Law is sort of a neat play on words. When I was a kid having the name Hacking didn't really mean much, but with computer hacking and all the other ways that people use that word hacking, Hacking Immigration sort of has that connotation that we're sort of helping you cut your way through the immigration process.
So we're really excited about the name change. We hope you are too.
