"Everybody counts or nobody counts." Hi. I'm Jim Hacking, immigration lawyer practicing law throughout the United States at our offices in St. Louis, Missouri, San Diego, California, and Washington, D.C.
Today, I have on my Harry Bosch t-shirt. Harry Bosch is a fictional detective in Los Angeles who investigates homicides, and his motto is "Everybody counts or nobody counts." So, I have my "Everybody counts or nobody counts" shirt on. I have that on because I think the motto is a very important one for life, but also for immigration.
When it comes to immigration, everybody should count. We have people that contact our office and say, "Well, I'm trying to come the legal way," or "I'm trying to bring my wife here the legal way and I'm not like all these Mexicans trying to sneak in the United States illegally," and they really do everything they can to try to distinguish that they are better somehow than the people who are entering the United States.
People are entering the United States are coming here because their lives are desperate. We don't spend any time in our office distinguishing between immigrants who are coming in the undocumented fashion or the illegal fashion and those who come legally. Obviously, as lawyers, we have to encourage our clients and instruct them to follow the law. We can't just advise them to not follow the law, but human beings are human beings and everybody counts. So, we're not going to play that game. We're not going to get into that debate. If you talk to me on the phone and try to portray yourself as somehow better than other people, I have no time for it. I'm not going to listen to it. I've cut clients off recently in having those discussions.
I just want everyone to know that when it comes to immigration at the Hacking Immigration Law Office, that you matter, that everyone matters, that we fight for all immigrants every single day. We fight for them in whatever position they're in. We fight for them for whatever goal that they want to get. We will do everything within our legal power to get them the immigration benefit that they want.
Don't call us trying to make yourself feel better or by cutting down immigrants of other sorts, because we're just not going to have it. We hope this makes sense. We hope this resonates with you.
