F-1 student visa

The Department of Homeland Security has extended the easing of restrictions for F-1 students in the United States whose country of origin is Syria and who are experiencing severe economic hardship as a direct result of the civil war in Syria.  The notice applies to all F-1 students from Syria.

DHS previously allowed these F-1 students from Syria to obtain employment authorization, work an increased number of hours while school is in session, to take a lighter course load and continue to maintain F-1 nonimmigrant student status.  Yesterday's directive extended the eased restrictions through March 31, 2015.  The announcement did not change any of the policies or procedures.

If you are a student in Missouri or Illinois and you have questions about your ability to work while enrolled in school in F-1 student status, please feel free to give us a call at 314-961-8200 or visit our contact page.
